The Giving Project is back!

We are delighted to announce that this spring, the Giving Project is back!

Inspired by Brown English teacher Becky Cohen, the Giving Project is a special community event that brings families from Brown and Oak Hill together over a delicious meal while raising awareness and funds for some of the many charities supported by our students and faculty.

Students and faculty are invited to nominate non-profit organizations they support, along with a brief summary of why they support it. Nominations are due Thursday, April 9. The nominations are then shared with both the Brown and Oak Hill communities, and 5 charities are selected to be showcased at our Giving Project Potluck Dinner on Thursday, May 7.

The funds raised at the dinner are then shared among the 5 charities. We can’t wait to hear about the charity or cause that inspires you!

Coupon Books for Sale | Volunteers Needed to Help

The 8th grade is raising funds for their annual trip to NYC.  If you are looking to support them, please consider purchasing a Coupon Book.

Students are selling Kidstuff Coupon Books for 25.00 each. Coupons for money off to places like Sports Authority, Marathon Sports, Modell’s Sporting Goods, Learning Express, Gardner Museum, Macy’s, Johnny Rockets, are among many others that will save $ throughout the year.  Using just a few coupons makes your 25.00 back! To do so, please reach out to any 8th grader or email info@oakhillpto.org– they are only available until this Wed 12/18.

Mr. Harutunian also needs help with sorting and organizing the collected envelopes for the coupon books- he plans on sorting them this Wed 12/18- if you’re able to pitch in and help him with the sorting and organizing, please email him at john_harutunian@newton.k12.ma.us

Staff Appreciation Cookie Fest: This Week!

Donations Still Needed: Annual Oak Hill Faculty and Staff Appreciation Cookie Fest

It is a long standing December tradition to show our appreciation for the wonderful Oak Hill teachers and staff by contributing cookies, bars, cupcakes or any treat you’d like to bake for a Cookie Fest in December.

It’s great fun and teachers LOVE it. Please consider donating some baked goods, or your time, for this important year-end recognition.

Volunteers Urgently Needed: Laps at Lunch

As of today, we have no volunteers signed up for any of the upcoming Laps@Lunch days.

Please consider volunteering so that our Oak Hill students have a chance to get outside, stretch their legs and walk during the lunch hour.

The program, launched by Oak Hill’s PE team and parent volunteers, is available to students in all grades. The success of the program relies on parent volunteers so we need your help!

Please Support the Holiday Gift Card Drive

The Oak Hill Counseling staff is collecting gift cards and money for families in need during the holiday season. Your small donation could have a huge impact for families in need this year!

We are looking for gift cards from Shaws, Star Market, CVS, Walgreens, Target, TJ Maxx, Marshalls or Amazon. You can also make a monetary contribution with a check made out to the Oak Hill PTO. There will be a collection box in the main office where you or your child can drop off the cards and checks or your child can give the donation to their counselor. You can also mail them to:

Oak Hill Holiday Drive, 130 Wheeler Rd. Newton, MA 02459.

We are happy to provide a letter documenting your donation for your taxes. If you would like a letter, just contact us at school or email: info@oakhillpto.org. Please send your donations by December 17 so that we can ensure our recipients have them in time for the holiday season.

As always, thank you for your help and happy holidays!
