Help Finish Replacing 8-Year-Old Computers at Oak Hill
Last year, thanks to your contributions, the PTO funded the replacement of half of the 26 Computer Lab eMacs purchased when our students were in Kindergarten. This year, we aim to replace the rest. The new computers are MacBooks on a mobile cart for use in all classrooms. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to the Oak Hill PTO Technology Drive to help achieve this. The following message was sent to Oak Hill parents on December 12, 2011:
Dear Oak Hill Parents,
Thanks to your support during last year’s Technology Drive, we purchased half of the computers needed to replace the 8-year-old desktops in our computer lab. If technology years are anything like “dog years,” we need to get the other half of the old computers replaced quickly to keep pace with our children’s learning experience.
With your help today, we can purchase the final batch of new computers to start 2012 off right. The new computers are laptops on a mobile cart, so they are readily accessible for frequent use in classrooms.
It’s amazing how quickly middle school students master technology change. Today’s computers constantly revolutionize the way students conduct research, collaborate in teams, make presentations, and practice math and music concepts. We want to make sure our kids are not tied down to tools that date back to their Kindergarten years.
Please partner with us again to replace the remaining 8-year-old desktops in the Oak Hill computer lab. They freeze, crash, or run very slowly, sometimes resulting in lost work. Your support can make that experience obsolete.
The new mobile cart of MacBooks ensures a current learning environment where students can build important skills, generate new ideas, and design their future.
