Parent/Guardian Visiting Days, October 2013

Dear Oak Hill Families:

You are cordially invited to visit Oak Hill Middle School while in session on the following mornings, Periods 1 and 2:

Grade 6: Tuesday, Oct. 22 (Day 4), 8:00 – 9:45 a.m.

Grade 7: Monday, Oct. 28 (Day 2), 8:00 – 9:45 a.m.

Grade 8: Thursday, Oct. 24 (Day 6), 8:00 – 9:45 a.m.

We have identified mornings when students by grade level are in their “team” classes (Eng., Math., Sci., SS/Hist.) followed by a “multi-team” class (World Language, Art, Music, Health, Drama, P.E., Tech Engineering). This is an opportunity to get a snapshot of what teaching and learning looks like in our classrooms.

Every day is new and different; we cannot anticipate everything that happens so you may see things that excite you, surprise you, or cause you to wonder. We have a diversity of learners with a range of learning styles present in our classes. Consequently, you may see a variety of student responses and behaviors: this is all part of the schooling experience.

In order for instruction to continue with as few interruptions as possible, we ask that you please follow these guidelines when you visit:

Check your child’s schedule to know which teachers your child has.

Feel free to visit any of your child’s classes whether s/he is present or not in the class during the two visiting periods.

Parents can come in to observe for a few minutes or more, as you wish. You can move from classroom to classroom to get a snapshot of the learning.

  • Please allow instruction to continue uninterrupted. Teachers will be teaching and cannot have conversations with parents during this visit. Please do not engage your child in conversation, if you happen to be in the same room together. We also ask that you refrain from holding sidebar conversations with other parents and have cell phones or electronic devices turned off when in classrooms.

We are thrilled you can visit our school in action. Hope we see you soon!

Sincerely,

John
