Our Parent Community:
The faculty, staff, and I want you to know how appreciative we are of all the support we have had from you throughout the year. We thank parents for making time in your very busy lives to help out in so many ways whether in school or from home. From making presentations in classrooms, chaperoning on field trips, beautifying school grounds through Newton Serves, assisting with Field Day, musical productions and concerts to serving on PTO committees, parents offer so much energy, enthusiasm, and financial support to our school – we thank you. Oak Hill would not be the rich and vibrant community that it is without all of the parents, teachers, and staff who work together to make this school the very special place that it is. We are fortunate indeed!
PTO Leadership:
On behalf of the community, I offer special thanks to our supportive PTO Tri-Presidents Etty Padmodipoetro, Jessica Freier and Bruce Henderson who have done an outstanding job along with PTO Board members and parent volunteers in leading the many PTO efforts. Their on-going dedication, genuine kindness and interest in engaging all members of our community make them a special group.
In particular, we extend our sincerest thanks to Bruce Henderson, a departing parent and PTO President for two years as he moves on to the high school. Bruce has been the leading force in creating the web-based PTO newsletter structure that now also exists at our feeder schools. In addition, he has spearheaded the ever-popular “Mix It Up” Dinner which offers families opportunities to get to know one another moving from home to home for h’ors d’oeuvres, dinner and then dessert. This event would not have happened without Bruce’s leadership and communications! We will miss his boundless energy, creative problem-solving ability and pragmatic approach!
Etty will also leave the PTO President role to oversee teacher appreciation events. Etty has been such a caring, supportive addition to the PTO Team. Her enthusiasm and commitment is unsurpassed – fortunately she will be with us a bit longer.
Thank you also to Jessica Freier for all her contributions including spearheading the School Supply pre-order system. The co-presidents will be Jessica Freier (continuing), joined by new OH parents Amy Less from Bowen and Matt Wilson from Memorial-Spaulding. We welcome their participation and leadership!
School Council PTO Representatives:
Our school council has worked diligently this year to support fostering an inclusive environment by raising awareness about implications of school attire after weekend celebrations. In addition, the Council recently completed a teacher and parent survey about Homework experiences. We will be sharing survey results in the fall. Two of our parent members will be leaving the Council: thank you to Elaine Whalen and Risa Shames for their leadership, sensitivity and assistance as the Council considered a variety of school matters. There will be an election in the fall for the two vacant positions. Steve Siegel will be a continuing member. We look forward to the work of the School Council upon our return to school.
