South Stage is Newton South’s highly-acclaimed theatre department, where students and faculty collaborate to put on a broad program of quality performances in fall, winter and spring, with support from the South Stage parent group. Known at NSHS as particularly warm and accepting, South Stage is a great place for your rising Freshman student to make friends, learn fabulous communication skills, and have a blast! To learn more, parents of current 8th grade students are welcomed and encouraged to join us Sunday, May 31 from 7-9pm, at the home of Theresa St.John-Siegel and Steve Siegel, 160 Allen Avenue, Waban. No RSVP required. Come hear about next year’s show schedule, learn how your student can audition for the Frosh Play (a play where all Freshmen who audition get speaking parts) and other shows. Find out about opportunities to learn technical skills such as costume-making, set-building, set and light design, etc. This is a great opportunity to network with experienced South parents who are available to help you transition your student. If you have any questions or would like to add your email to the South Stage mailing list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parents and students are also invited to join us at our one remaining play of the 2014 -2015 school year, which is our 32nd joint Shakespeare project with Newton North. This year the high school students will perform MacBeth in the Newton South Courtyard on May 28, 29, 30 at 7:30pm. Tickets on sale at southstage.org, but please be advised that this show contains graphic scenes of medieval armed combat and blood (PG 13).
